Grapat wooden toys, hand dyed in Catalonia

Grapat is a small family company in Catalonia, Spain. Casiana and Jordi started it in 2015, making the first pieces in their attic. The timber comes from European forests, and every piece is still coloured and finished by hand in their own workshop.

The colour goes on as a dye, with plant oils and waxes over the top, so the grain and the small knots still show through. No two pieces come out quite the same.

Mandala sets, Tomtens, nins and rings. Loose parts with no fixed purpose, packed in a reusable box with no instructions. Children sort them, stack them, line them up along the floor, then sweep the lot into a pile and start again.
