Meet the Makers
We have been so fortunate to partner with incredible organisations from around the world. Some of our key suppliers include a family run small textiles business in India, a community-focused traditional weaving organisation in Vietnam, and multiple FSC certified wood manufacturers across South Asia who meticulously handcraft their wares utilising modern and traditional techniques and skills.
When choosing our partners, we seek out those who share and promote our values, and can show through independent evaluations and certifications that they are committed to ethical and sustainable production, whilst providing safe, supportive and kind working environments for all of their employees.
We specifically look for Fair Trade certification, independent workplace audits, and those who align with programs such as the amfori Business Social Compliance Initiative (BSCI), which is an industry-driven movement that aims to monitor and assess workplace standards across the global supply chain. Some of the key metrics reviewed, and which we use to judge the suitability of a potential partner, focus on fair remuneration, strict regulations around working hours, no child labour, strong controls in place for operation health and safety, environmental protection measures and ethical business behaviour.
Working with our esteemed and well-respected suppliers, we also ensure the use of sustainable materials and that industry certification standards are being met. For instance, our wood products are produced by suppliers who hold certification through the Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) which sets global benchmarks protecting nature through responsible forest management. We also seek to eliminate the use of toxic materials, harmful chemicals, plastics, oils and paints in the production of our items, creating a safer and healthier environment for our producers. In these ways, we are also minimising our environmental footprint and operating as sustainably as possible.
