Description

Fabric play sandbags. 

Hand-sewn fabric sandbags for throwing, balancing, stacking and small world play, in a limited edition print made just for us. 

Sandies are one of those toys that look simple until you watch a child work out everything they can do with them. Thrown, they land with a soft thud and stay where they fall, so a two-year-old can get one into a bucket or a hoop and feel like they’ve won something. Then it becomes balancing: one on the head while walking down the hallway, one on the back of a hand, see who makes it to the kitchen without dropping it.

Lay them out and they’re stepping stones across the lounge room floor, or an obstacle course through the backyard. Stack them and they’re a tower worth knocking over. With this print especially, they become hay bales and fence posts around a horse paddock, or walls for a cowboy camp. The cotton is soft and tactile, the sand moves when a bag is squeezed.

Sandies are made in Australia by Lara, who sews every one herself from start to finish. Each set comes in a calico drawstring bag, which is where they live bewtween games.

We want you to be happy with your purchase, if something isn't as expected we will accept returns within 30 days of your order being delivered.The item/s need to be unused, in original condition and original packaging.

Product Specifications

Sewn by hand in Australia in a limited run.
Cotton outer, filled with fine sand and stitched close so the sand stays inside. Each bag approx 8 x 12cm, 180-190g. One fits in an adult hand. Prints may vary between sets and are not repeated once sold out. Recommended for ages 2+.
Handle with reasonable care. These are fabric toys and are not indestructible. Check seams regularly and retire any bag that shows wear. Wipe with a damp cloth to remove marks. Hand wash and dry in full sun, turning each side so it dries evenly.
